Jeanine McKenna – Ignite Emporia/Chamber of Commerce – October 11, 2023
Jeanine McKenna was inspired by the work of her mother and has followed
in her footsteps leading the communities where she has worked. She is a
graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Hays State University,
Hays Kansas, and from the Institute of Organizational Management at the
University of Colorado, and numerous certificates in teaching leadership.
She has been leading communities with her career in the chamber of
commerce profession for over thirty-three years.
In August 2000, Jeanine accepted the position of President/CEO at the
Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce in Emporia Kansas. She is now in her
twenty-third year of serving in this position.
Jeanine loves her community and has a passion for the work she feels
blessed to be doing. She was surprised in January 2018 with receiving the
Emporia State University Service Citation Award, an award in which she is
humbled to receive. Jeanine has served as the Chair for a four-state
conference of Chamber professionals called MAKO (Missouri, Arkansas,
Kansas Oklahoma) and the Board of Trustees for the National Teachers Hall
of Fame. She is a past Chairman of Mid-America Chamber of Commerce
Executives, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Executives, Chamber of
Commerce Executives of Kansas, and the United Way of the Flint Hills.

Jeanine will be speaking about Ignite Emporia and where they are at on their initiatives: Workforce Development, Housing, Business Retention, Community Developmant and Childcare.
Three learning objectives:
- Ignite wants to be seen as our partner in addressing the issues of Workforce Development, Housing, Business Retention, Community Development and Childcare.
- Ignite wants to grow and develop their partnership with all of us and increase more communication (back and forth).
- Fresh take aways with information that can be used in the day-to-day.
